Immortalized in Blood
Song info: the song was inspired by American news outlets' tendencies to give far too much attention to the perpetrators of mass shootings. While it is important to know of them, it often goes to a point of pseudo-glorification. Along with that, misinformation can run rampant (such as the false notion that the Columbine shooters were bulled or unpopular). The main inspiration for the lyrics came from the Port Arthur Massacre, the Australian mass murder that led to heavy gun restrictions in the country.
Lyrics
A thousand strolling in their bliss Not knowing it’s their final day The killer arrives with his gun To begin his killing spree No hesitation as he aims The nearest man his chosen mark A burst of fire from the barrel Claims the first of many lives He shoots before they can react A mother and son now lay dead The frenzy of wasps now kicks in The shooter raises his rifle They scatter as the bullets fly Shells of brass clink on the ground How long will this massacre last Not even the killer knows As the crowd thins and bodies rot The sirens tell him it’s the end With his few bullets he decides He won’t be taken alive His carcass found shot in the head The smoking gun rests in his hands His motive lost forever His name is etched and glorified In blood, immortalized His name the only one remembered No victims' names recognized In blood he's immortalized |
