Black Knight
Song info: this song is about Mordred, a figure in the legend of king Arthur. I came up with the main riff while practicing the Neapolitan scale. The rest came naturally from there. It was the third song to be written for "Speak with the Dead". Due to its somewhat odd rhythm at points, this song was a major pain to record.
Lyrics
Born with a birthright The heir to the throne But no crown will I gain The king, he has sworn Fool of a man is he Unfit to rule the land If he won't give his crown to me I'll rip it from his hands An army of the wicked Swords of steel, swords for gold Arising from the fens and hills To me, the kingdom has been sold Await the return of the king Of his death, bards will always sing A sword through his neck brings the sting For his death, the church bells soon shall ring A field of flesh and sea of blood The bodies pile high A gaping wound bored in my chest I lay still as I die |
